Andrés A. Kenney
Andrés joined Perkins Thompson in 2024 as an associate in the firm’s Litigation practice group. He enjoys the challenges of new and complex issues, especially those involving construction and labor and employment disputes. Andrés also enjoys working on immigration matters, assisting individuals in gaining status in the United States.
Andrés graduated Cum Laude from the University of Maine School of Law in 2023 with a Juris Doctor, he was Refugee and Human Rights Fellow for his class, and he was voted by his class to be the 2023 Class Speaker. Upon graduation, he received the Immigration Law Award, the Diana DeJesus Student Bar Association Community Impact Award, and the Pro Bono Publico Award. Andrés was also the president of the Maine Association for Public Interest Law, and a member of the Oceans and Costal Law Journal, where his law review article about the Jones Act, the title for a series of laws that are the backbone of American cabotage law, was selected for publication.
Prior to attending law school, Andrés worked for a year as a fulltime volunteer with Jesuit Volunteer Corps and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, and then for a year on the Laredo Project. Andrés moved to Maine for love, and now lives in Portland with his family. He has also fallen in love with and dedicated his free time to Maine, and being a “Mainer.” As a Peruvian-American, Andrés enjoys cooking Peruvian cuisine and sipping Pisco (which is original to Peru) with friends and family.
